Last Christmas I just about had a holiday breakdown. I’m an outdoorsy gal, and going into a mega mall put me into sensory overload. The rows of plastic packaging and disposable toys, the mass crowds, and the stress of sorting through it all to find something meaningful — well, I swung open the doors and ran home empty handed.

This year, I’m doing things differently. I’m buying thoughtful gifts that support local artisans and local businesses. And guess what? Campers Village is a family owned local business!

Campers Village has three locations:

  • Edmonton West, 10951 - 170 Street
  • Edmonton South, 3235 Calgary Trail NW
  • Calgary, 7208 Macleod Trail SE

Swing by and see their inspiring, carefully curated selections of outdoor clothing, footwear, and outdoor gear, including Canadian brands like Tentree, Fig, Kuma, and more!

Locally Owned Calgary Shops and Businesses

Made in Calgary showcases Calgary entrepreneurs and their creativity. They have something called ‘spot the dot,’ meaning that local businesses put a red sticker reading “made in calgary” on their door to highlight that they are locally owned and operated.

Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi is a proud supporter of Calgary local businesses and entrepreneurs. He says:

“There is a sense that if you’ve got an idea, this is the place to make it happen. People across the country are starting to understand what is going on in this city.”

Shopping Local for Holiday Gifts Feels Good

Yup. It does. Because when you buy something, you don’t just get a product, but also a story. Did you know that Campers Village has been Alberta owned and operated since 1963? And that its parent company, Norseman Group (originally Northwest Tent and Awning), was founded in 1921? These are family owned businesses that want your family to have fun in the great outdoors.
